Terms of service

Effective · School Bike Bus LLC · hello@schoolbikebus.com

Using SchoolBikeBus means agreeing to these terms. They are short on purpose; the parts that matter most are the safety statement and the payment terms, and neither is hidden.

This agreement is between you and School Bike Bus LLC, a Georgia limited liability company that operates SchoolBikeBus.com. “We”, “us” and “our” mean that company throughout this document. SchoolBikeBus and SchoolBikeBus.com are the names the service goes by.

What this service is

SchoolBikeBus is a directory of school bike buses and tools for the people who run them: a public page per bike bus, and (on the paid plan) sign-ups, rosters, and ride-day tooling. Bike buses themselves are independent groups of families.

School Bike Bus LLC operates this website. It does not operate, employ, sponsor, supervise, or insure any bike bus listed here, and it does not plan or inspect any route. Every bike bus is run by the independent volunteers whose names are on it.

The safety statement

Routes are planned and published by independent bike bus organizers. SchoolBikeBus does not inspect or certify route safety.

That sentence appears on every page that shows a route, and it means what it says: deciding whether a route, a ride, or a group is safe and suitable for your child is a judgment made by you and by the ride’s organizers, not by us. Riding a bicycle on public streets carries inherent risk that no directory can remove.

If you organize a bike bus

  • What you publish must be true, yours to publish, and about a real bike bus at a real school.
  • You are responsible for how your ride is run: routes, supervision, and compliance with your local rules (helmet laws, sidewalk rules, and school policies vary by place).
  • Family information you can see through the roster exists so you can run the ride. Using it for anything else (marketing, sharing, any purpose a parent did not sign up for) is a violation of these terms and grounds for removal.
  • New bike buses are reviewed by a person before they are published, and we may decline or take down a listing at our judgment, with a note saying why, because silence helps nobody.
  • You run your bike bus yourself. You are not our employee, agent, partner or representative, and nothing you say or do binds us.
  • If you own the bike bus, you can delete it, and you are the only one who can. It comes off the directory at once, and thirty days later it and everything attached to it is removed, including the roster the families built. You can call it off at any point in those thirty days. We email your co-organizers and the families on the roster when the clock starts, because what gets deleted is their information too.

What that review is. A person checks that a listing looks like a real bike bus, at a real school, put up by a real organizer. That is an editorial check on what has been written, and it is the reason a stranger cannot attach anything they like to your child’s school. It is not an inspection, not a certification, and not an opinion about whether a route, a group, or a morning is safe or suitable for any particular child. We have not seen the street, met the organizers, or watched a ride. That judgment stays with you and with the people running the ride, which is what the safety statement above means.

Accounts

You must be an adult to create an account. Keep your sign-in method to yourself; what happens under your account is yours. We can suspend accounts that break these terms, and you can delete yours by emailing us (see the privacy policy for what deletion covers).

Payments and Pro

Publishing a bike bus (the route, stops, and times) is free and stays free. Pro costs $100 USD per year, per bike bus. Paying commits the bike bus for the full year and there are no partial refunds if you stop part way through (the same sentence shown before every payment). Renewal is yearly and can be switched off at any time, in which case the term simply runs to its end date.

If a Pro term ends, the paid presentation and sign-ups switch off; the bike bus’s records (roster, RSVPs, attendance) remain readable and exportable. Nothing is deleted for not paying. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers.

SMS terms

SchoolBikeBus, operated by School Bike Bus LLC, runs an optional text message program for parents and guardians riding with a bike bus in the United States. Messages come from (464) 245-3287 and concern only the bike bus you signed up with.

Checking the separate SMS box on the join form and submitting it is how you agree to receive recurring operational messages: the evening-before ride reminder with its RSVP link, and schedule changes or cancellations. You answer a reminder by tapping the link inside it. We do not send marketing messages.

Message frequency varies with the ride schedule and updates; most bike buses ride once a week. Message and data rates may apply.

Signing up for texts is optional and is never a condition of joining a bike bus. Giving your mobile number so an organizer can call you, or accepting the other consents on the join form, does not sign you up for texts.

To stop, reply STOP, END, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL or QUIT to (464) 245-3287. We send one message confirming it, and then nothing. Stopping the texts does not take you off the bike bus. Reply HELP for help.

Delivery is not guaranteed. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

What we do with your number and your consent record is in the privacy policy, and the program is described in full at About these texts.

Acceptable use

Do not misrepresent a bike bus or a school, scrape or harvest family information, harass anyone, attempt to access data that is not yours, or use the service for anything unlawful. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive; the standard is whether a reasonable parent at your school would object.

Your content

What you publish stays yours. You give us the license needed to host and display it. That is the entire purpose of the license, and it ends for content you remove. If a bike bus changes hands, its published page and records go with it to the next organizer; that continuity is a feature of the service you agree to by publishing.

Our name and our work

The SchoolBikeBus name, site, and design are protected work, and using the service does not give you any right to reuse them. The organizer templates and guides are free to use, adapt and share for running a bike bus (that is what they are for), but not to republish as a competing service.

Editorial photographs on the site are real photographs, used under Creative Commons or public-domain licenses and credited where the license asks for it. They are illustration: the people in them are not SchoolBikeBus users, and they do not depict any specific school or bike bus listed here. Photographs of actual bike buses are supplied by their organizers, who are responsible for having permission to publish them.

Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided as-is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not warrant that listings are current, that routes are safe, or that the service is uninterrupted. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount the relevant bike bus paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free listing is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

The housekeeping

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA. If a part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stands. If these terms change materially, the date above changes and the revised terms are posted here; continuing to use the service after that is acceptance. We do not email account holders about revisions, so the date above is the thing to check.
